Practical Guidelines to Protect Yourself from Scams

1. Slow Down Every Important Decision

If someone pressures you to act immediately, stop. Genuine organisations will allow you time to think.

2. Verify Before You Share

Never provide:

• Bank details
• Card numbers
• Security codes
• Copies of identification

Unless you are completely certain who you are dealing with.

3. Be Cautious with Doorstep Callers

Before allowing anyone into your home:

• Ask for identification
• Do not feel pressured to open the door
• Use independent verification methods

4. Treat Unexpected Contact as Suspicious

If you did not initiate the contact, approach it carefully — especially if money is involved.

5. Use Independent Analysis Services

If you receive a suspicious letter, text, WhatsApp message or email, get it professionally checked before responding.

Protection is not about paranoia. It is about sensible verification and removing uncertainty.
