Why You Should Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Sensitive Activity

Scammers and cybercriminals often exploit unsecured networks to intercept data.

The Risks of Public Wi-Fi

When using open networks in cafés, airports or hotels, your data may be visible to others on the same network.

This can include:

• Login credentials
• Banking details
• Personal information

How to Stay Safe

Avoid accessing sensitive accounts
Do not log into banking or financial services on public Wi-Fi.

Use mobile data when possible
A secure mobile connection is safer for important activity.

Be cautious of fake networks
Scammers sometimes create Wi-Fi networks with names that appear legitimate.

Log out after use
Always sign out of accounts when finished.

A Simple Rule

If the network is public, treat it as untrusted. Wait until you are on a secure connection before handling anything important.
